The TUC has pleasure in inviting you to the Seminar on the ILO Recommendation on HIV-AIDS and the World of Work to be held from 14.00 to 17.00 on Wednesday 1 December 2010 in Congress House.
The Recommendation adopted in June this year by the ILO Conference is an important step in the progress towards universal access to HIV-AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support through workplace.
The seminar will bring together government officials, trade unionists, interested NGOs and diplomats. Esther Ogunfowora, Coordinator, TUC-NLC Workplace Initiative in Nigeria and Stewart Brown, Executive Committee member, FBU, who helped negotiate the Recommendation, will make presentations and other speakers will be announced shortly. The event will provide us with an opportunity to examine its implications for current workplace policies and practices and explore ways and means of publicizing the Recommendation and mobilizing support for its effective implementation both in the UK and abroad
Trade unionists have played a vital role in the drafting of the new ILO recommendation as well as in mobilizing support for its adoption and are now keen to see it meaningfully implemented at workplace. The ILO Recommendation can be found in http://www.ilo.org/aids/lang--en/docName--WCMS_142706/index.htm
