NHS Rally 7 March

3 March 2012

Solidarity messages for the Save Our NHS - 7 March Rally from

  • France,
  • USA and
  • Zimbabwe
France: CFDT - General Secretary Francois Chereque

On behalf of the Confederation Francaise Democratique du Travail (CFDT) I'd like to bring you all our support in your struggle to protect the health system in the UK. Privatising cannot be the answer for improving the healthcare that the most vulnerable people deserve.

On Wednesday 7 March, we will stand on your side at the rally you organise, and to make your campaign 'All together for the NHS' a success.

USA: AFLCIO - President Richard L Trumka

The AFLCIO, on behalf of our 12.2 million members, stands in solidarity with the health workers and patients in their rally to save Britain's National Health Service (NHS) on 7 March 2012.

The NHS is under attack by the recently introduced Health and Social Care Bill, which would gradually privatize health care and threaten the terms of employment for thousands of health service workers. Six thousand nursing jobs are at risk if the reform passes. Given the ongoing challenges facing workers in the UK and globally, it is irresponsible to attack a program that is so key to working families.

The AFLCIO joins the Trades Union Congress of the United Kingdom, workers from across the health service industry and the patients who will be affected in sending a message to support working families by maintaining the important services provided by the NHS.

Zimbabwe: ZCTU

We in the ZCTU are encouraged by the efforts of the Trades Union Congress, health professionals, and patients in their fight against the Health and Social Care Bill. Your concerns as working people of Britain are also our concerns. Solidarity forever!

We urge the British government to heed the concerns about the effects the legislation will have on healthcare. There will be fragmentation of the health service, worsening the care available to patients, and uncertainty for NHS employees, with the quality of training and their terms and conditions of employment likely to suffer. Stop the Bill now!
