GCSE successes must not be thwarted by education cuts

Commenting on GCSE results announced today (Tuesday), TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

'Today's pupils deserve to be congratulated on their record results.

'But with cuts to university places forcing more A-level students into further education, successful youngsters could still be forced out of education early and into a non-existent jobs market, where they will join the growing army of frustrated NEETs.

'The Government must ensure that the achievements and ambition of students today are not thwarted by reckless education and skills cuts.'
