Free redundancy resource from FSA

cover of the redundancy handbook from the FSA

Unionlearn is working with the Financial Services Authority (FSA), the UK's financial regulator, as part of its Skills: Recession & Recovery project to help those facing redundancy or in danger of losing their job. The FSA is piloting a practical handbook that provides impartial information on managing personal finances during volatile times in workplace.

The free handbook covers everything from dealing with job worries and redundancy rights to managing money and the entitlements you can claim. It is compiled in handy sections that help you to think of the next steps when your job is under threat of redundancy.

To request a copy or a number of copies for the workplace, visit the unionlearn website and complete the online form.

Reps in the workplace can also take advantage of FSA's offer to run free seminars at workplaces to provide guidance on:

  • how to make the most of redundancy payments;
  • state benefits, for example Job Seekers' Allowance, and tax;
  • debt management, budgeting and borrowing;
  • redundancy rights;
  • planning for retirement.

For further information on arranging seminars please contact your Unionlearn Regional Development Worker in the Skills: Recession and Recovery team ( contact details on the website ) or visit FSA's Financial Capability website for more information.
