embargo: for immediate release
Welcoming the publication today (Thursday) of the Local Transport Bill, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
"The Bill marks a new future for local bus services, putting quality services and decent working conditions at the heart of this vital mode of public transport. The TUC is convinced that the measures in the Bill will also encourage more people to travel by bus, helping to reduce the carbon emissions of towns and cities across the UK."
