TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber will warn that the coalition government is the “most female-unfriendly in living memory” when he addresses delegates at the TUC Women's Conference later today (Wednesday).
Deep public spending cuts would lead to heavy job losses for women and substantially reduce their income in retirement, according to a report published today (Wednesday) by the TUC.
Commenting on the Women and Work Commission report published today (Wednesday), TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
'This economic crisis was created by a small number of male bankers; and ordinary women should not be made to pay the penalty for their recklessness.'
Delaying the extension of flexible working rights and maternity pay will undermine Government commitments to close the gender pay gap and end child poverty, the TUC warns as it opens the annual TUC Women's conference in Scarborough today (Wednesday).
