About this event

The economic landscape has created uncertainty in regards to pay matters and spending cuts in the public sector. Along with pay freezes in the private sector, this has created growing doubt in how to approach pay bargaining.

The IDS & TUC Pay Forum will help alleviate this uncertainty and doubt by providing you with the knowledge needed for pay bargaining and to proceed into 2013 with confidence. The forum will address a number of questions: will we ever get back to normal bargaining on pay and inflation? Does this depend on a return to economic growth? What will be the effect of lower inflation in 2013?

Key discussion topics:

  • The prospects for pay rises in 2013
  • Improving pay levels through the Living Wage
  • The growth of agency working and different tiers of pay and conditions
  • Negotiating permanent status for agency staff
  • The changes to the measures of inflation: the RPI and the CPI
  • The use and abuse of pay data
  • The issues with public and private sector pay comparisons
  • Re-establishing co-ordinated pay bargaining
