TUC welcomes extra jobs help for young people

Welcoming the Government announcement that from today (Monday), every young person who has been out of work for six months or more will be guaranteed the offer of a job, training or work experience, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

'Young people who are desperate to get into the labour market will be grateful that they now won't have to wait too long before they can get help from the Government's Future Jobs Fund to access a job, boost their skills and add valuable work experience to their CVs.

'But despite the expectation that official figures out tomorrow will show the UK is out of recession, there are almost a million 16-24 year olds struggling to find a job. It's going to be some time before they have much to celebrate.'
