TUC welcomes final piece in the jigsaw of the Financial Assistance Scheme

Commenting on the laying down of final legislation today (Thursday) for implementing the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

'The creation of the FAS is a real victory for unions' long campaign to compensate thousands of people whose pension schemes collapsed before the Pensions Protection Fund. These people lost their pensions through no fault of their own.

'Ministers should be applauded for their commitment to bringing the FAS into fruition and finding the necessary resources to do so.'
