TUC welcome for fuel tax move
Welcoming the announcement made by the Chancellor today (Wednesday) that the 2p rise in fuel duty is to be postponed, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
'This is precisely the kind of intelligent pro-growth measure the Government needs to make to deal with current economic difficulties. Increased demand in developing countries and the environmental imperative means that we are not going to return to an era of cheap energy. But this relief will help stop fuel price rises doing wide damage to the economy and help safeguard jobs and living standards.'
