TUC welcome for social housing proposals
Commenting on the social housing measures announced today (Wednesday) by the Government as part of its draft legislative programme, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
'The Government is right to put more money into social housing and shared equity schemes. These measures will help the less well off who have been left way behind by the housing boom of recent years.
'Ministers must continue to intervene in the housing market to make it fairer. Our shared goal must be to ensure that everyone who wants to own their own home can afford to do so and that there is also enough quality, affordable accommodation for rent to go round.'
